Refund Policy

Last updated: September 24, 2026

1. What this policy is

We are a small company, and we know that buying software from a company you have not heard of carries risk. This policy removes that risk: if our software is not right for you, tell us and we will refund you.

This policy applies to purchases made directly from I Own Software LLC or through our websites. It does not apply to purchases made through a third-party marketplace or app store, which are governed by that store's own refund rules.

Where one of our product agreements says that fees are non-refundable “except as required by applicable law or by a refund policy the Vendor has expressly stated in writing,” this document is that written refund policy, and it prevails.

2. The guarantee

For subscriptions, the window runs from your first charge — not from the start of a free trial. Time spent in a free trial does not consume the window, because you have not paid anything yet.

You do not need to give a reason. We may ask why, because it helps us make the product better, but the refund does not depend on your answer.

3. What happens to your licence when you are refunded

A refund unwinds the purchase. It is not a penalty, and it is not us taking something away from you — it means the sale did not happen. So, when a refund is issued:

This is the only circumstance in which a fully-paid perpetual licence ends because of a payment matter. Outside of a refund, a perpetual licence you have paid for is yours to keep — see Section 8.

4. What is not covered

5. How to request a refund, and when you get your money

Email billing@iownsoftware.com from the address on the account, or use the contact form in your account portal. Tell us the product and, if you have it, the order or invoice number.

We will acknowledge within 2 business days and, where the request is within the applicable window and not excluded under Section 4, issue the refund within 10 business days of that acknowledgement.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method through our payment processor. How long the money takes to appear on your statement after we issue it is determined by your bank or card issuer and is outside our control. If a refund cannot be returned to the original payment method — for example because the card is closed — we will agree an alternative method with you.

6. Hosted plans: your data

If you are refunded on a hosted plan, your deployment is scheduled for shutdown and your data is deleted.

Export your data first. Once a refund is issued we will keep your data available for 30 days so that you can export it, and we will tell you the date it will be deleted. After that date the data is deleted and cannot be recovered. If you would prefer it deleted sooner, tell us and we will do that instead.

7. Your statutory rights

This policy is in addition to any rights you have under applicable law, including consumer-protection and distance-selling rules and, where they apply to you, statutory cancellation rights. Nothing here limits, and this policy should not be read as limiting, a right you have by law that cannot be waived by agreement. If the law where you live gives you a longer or better right than this policy, that law applies and we will honour it.

8. Perpetual licences outside of a refund

For products sold as a one-time purchase, the licence is perpetual: it does not expire on a fixed date, and ending a service — support, maintenance, hosting, or a related subscription — does not end it.

A perpetual licence you have paid for ends only if:

We keep the second one deliberately. Some of what we sell provides remote access to other people's computers, and we need to be able to withdraw a licence that is being used to reach machines without authorisation. It is not a general right to take back software you have paid for.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version that applies to a purchase is the one published on the date of that purchase, and we will keep prior versions available. Changes are not applied retroactively to reduce a guarantee you already have.
